Red Arrow  •  Casper City Council Cancels March 28th Work Session Mayor Kenyne Humphrey has canceled the City Council’s work session that was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. The cancelation is due to the prearranged absences of four of the Councilmembers. Items that were on the agenda will be rescheduled for a later date.  Questions and information are available through the Office of the Mayor at (307) 235-8224.

•  Skate All Day!  The Casper Ice Arena will be hosting Skate All Day sessions from March 27 to April 1, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Admission and skate rental is $6.00.  Find more information here.

•  The Casper Ice Arena will remain open through the spring and summer months of 2017.  The plan to shut-down for re-construction of the arena's ice system has been put on hold.  Flagship programming will continue to be offered at the Ice Arena during this time.  Full details are available here.


•  Skate with the Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt at the Casper Ice Arena!  The Easter bunny will be ice skating at the Casper Ice Arena on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  Admission is $4.00 and skate rental is FREE.  See complete details here and a video of Chad Green on the ice here.

•  Casper Recreation Center Spring Break Camp and Summer Adventure Camp Registration is Now Open!  For full details of these exciting, action-packed opportunities, see the complete press release here.

•  Public Art Project Seeks Artists!  Keep Casper Beautiful and the Casper Artists’ Guild will be adding new art to downtown Casper. The project will apply original artwork to four downtown traffic signal cabinets.  Submissions for the signal cabinets will be accepted at ART 321 until Friday, March 31, 2017.  Additional information is available here.

•  The World War I poster exhibit “Home Front Posters of the Great War, 1917-1918” is on display at the Fort Caspar Museum through March 25, 2017.   This exhibit consists of thirty framed copies of posters in the collection of the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City.  See more details here.

City Projects

   City Projects -  check out the status of all major City projects here!  The City of Casper's Engineering Division is keeping you in the loop with consistent project updates.

South Center St South Center St. will be closed between 2nd St. and Midwest Ave. for building renovations; closure will occur from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays only through March 19th.  Project being done by Keyhole Technologies. March 19, 2017 
2nd Street Concrete Repairs This project corrects miscellaneous concrete items along East 2nd St. between Durbin St. and Venture Way; includes curb and gutter, valley gutters, and ADA ramps. TBD 
Bryan Stock Trail  This project corrects the settlement north of the North Platte River and south of Metro Rd, and includes replacing a stretch of water main, new curb and gutter, and asphalt surfacing. TBD 
26th Street Improvements From McKinley St. to Sagewood Ave.: this is a mill and fill project with new ADA ramps. TBD  
English Avenue From Poplar St. to Circle Dr: this project installs new curb & gutter, catch basins, and asphalt surfacing. TBD  
Landmark Drive Improvements From Blackmore Rd. to East 2nd St.: this is a “mill and fill” project, where the existing asphalt surface will be milled 2-inches and new asphalt surfacing installed.            TBD 
McKinley Street Underpass   This project upgrades the storm sewer system and surfacing at the McKinley St. underpass at I-25.  TBD 
South Spruce Street From CY Ave. to Collins: the east side of this street was recently upgraded by the school district during the renovations to NCHS. This project will complete the west side of the street, with new curb & gutter, asphalt surfacing, catch basins, and ADA ramps. TBD  
Columbine Improvements From Indian Paintbrush to Carnation St.: this is another mill and fill project, including misc. water and sanitary sewer work, with new ADA ramps. TBD 
K Street Improvements From Center St. to Grant St.: this involves the complete reconstruction of K Street, with new water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer mains, along with enhanced pedestrian connectivity with widened sidewalks. TBD 
East 21st Street Continuation of work done in 2016.  There are 4 blocks to complete in 2017 between Glendale Ave. and McKinley St.  This 2017 portion began on March 13th with waterline replacement; concrete replacements and final asphalt surfacing will begin after waterline replacement.  Access on 21st St. will be limited to local residents only between Glendale and McKinley. Mid-June 2017
15th & Elm Streets Improvements Project  Project includes street improvements on 15th Street from CY to Wolcott and Elm Street from Poplar to 15th Street.  Phase I was completed in September of 2015 and included repairs on Wolcott Street (from 13th Street to College Drive).  Phase II includes repairs on Elm Street (from 15th Street to CY Avenue) and 15th Street (from Ash Street to CY Avenue).  Elm Street is 80% completed with the 13th/12th block work to be completed next year along with 15th Street work.  Construction being done by Grizzly Construction, LLC. September 2017
Fire Station #6 Work proceeding according to schedule; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in work being done in living quarters; site utilities complete with exception of fiber optic tie-in; interior metal stud partition and hard ceiling nearly complete; roofing underlayment is nearly installed; and exterior personnel doors in apparatus bay has begun.  Only footings and foundations for sign and trash enclosure remain.  Updated pictures hereConstruction being done by Caspar Building Systems.  April 2017
Hogadon Lodge

All roofing membrane work is complete; all clearstory windows installed; interior drywall, metal wall paneling, electrical, and HVAC are ongoing.  Wood framing, interior stairs, and main parking grade entrance concrete are finished; fire suppression tank has been vented; and metal roof over administration office and kitchen is installed. New pictures here.

Kelly Walsh Swimming Facility Pool will not meet the deadline of September for the scheduled swimming competitions.  Competitions have been moved to Glenrock. Spring 2017
Kelly Walsh High School Dedication ceremony occurred August 22, 2016.  Completion of the total project should be within 18 months.    Spring 2018
David Street Station Civic space located at corner of W. Yellowstone and David Streets; 43,000 square -foot outdoor facility for ice-skating, farmer's markets, concerts, etc.  See the new website for more information.
