What happens to animals impounded at Metro?

Generally, all animals are held for no less than 5 days before they are placed for adoption. This gives an owner time to reclaim their pet before they are placed up for adoption to the general public. Metro Animal Services never refuses any animal at any time for any reason, so it is common for us to have rabbits, birds, ferrets, reptiles etc. These animals are generally placed up for adoption for between $1 and $20.00. The adoption fee for a cat is $35.00 and for all dogs it is $50.00.
