What does it take to become a member of Casper Fire-EMS?



Testing requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire.
  • An associate’s degree (or equivalent college credits) in fire science, public administration or a closely related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming driver's license.
  • Possession of a Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
  • Possession of a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification card at time of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a State Firefighter I and II Certification, within twelve (12) months of hire.

 

 

Below are the steps for our testing process:

 

1.  Submit your City application here by the posted closing date.

 

2.  Complete your Written Exam with Public Safety Testing by the posted closing date.  You may test for Casper FD at any PST test event, via PST’s virtual, online in-home testing program, or in person at an approved test center across the US.

 

3.  Oral Board

            Eligible candidates will be invited to participate in the Oral Board process.

4.  CPAT - Verifiable successful CPAT required within 1 year prior to hiring date.
