It is up to all of us to care for our community and improve its appearance. One individual can make a difference. Cleanup Captains are an important part of the Keep Casper Beautiful mission. Captains are leaders within KCB and help us achieve far more than we could by ourselves; they help lead cleanups, recruit volunteers, recruit sponsors, and serve as advisors. |
Duties
- Pick up litter kits from the KCB office before events (8-4 pm office hours, Monday-Friday)
- Register volunteers and ensure that volunteers sign the volunteer waiver
- Distribute safety supplies
- Make sure that volunteers are following the KCB safety procedures and guidelines
- Return litter kits to the KCB office
- Help recruit volunteers for cleanups and events
- Thank volunteers for their efforts
- Help KCB recruit sponsorships
- Serve as advisors to the KCB Coordinator on new programs, program changes, and events
- Help with larger community events by registering volunteers and distributing supplies
Cleanup Captain Requirements
- Must be 16 years old with a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Must attend a training session or arrange a training with the KCB Coordinator

- Ability to supervise volunteers of all ages
- Understand safety procedures
- Ability to communicate with volunteers
- Ability to solve problems
Time Commitment
Cleanup Captains are required to attend a 1-1.5 hour training session in the spring or summer. Captains sign up for cleanups to lead. Most cleanups are 1-3 hours in length. Keep Casper Beautiful also asks that Cleanup Captains be available to help recruit volunteers and serve as advisors to KCB. Time commitment can range from 2-10 hours per month.

1. Can I host my own cleanup and not be a captain?
Yes, you can arrange to hold a cleanup with Keep Casper Beautiful and not be a Cleanup Captain. Your group may also select one of the Pathway Picker or Roadway Warrior Cleanups to conduct on your own.
2. My company/ organization would like to be part of a cleanup event, how do we sign up to volunteer?
